December Poll

Normal service is resumed. The Poll is BACK.

PLEASE READ THE WHOLE POST FOR INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE ANSWERING THE POLL!
(we occasionally change them you know, yet people still get it wrong)

The poll contains all the suggestions from last poll. We have also added suggestions from earlier polls and made up a few more to make up the numbers.

Pick which theme you would like to see us feature for JANUARY. As usual, I am not going to explain what each theme is; they may or may not be what you think! In the box beneath the main poll, we’d like you to suggest the theme(s) YOU would like to see for FEBRUARY. These suggestions will then form next month’s poll* along with another suggestion that the mods will throw in themselves. In the event that we have less than 10 suggestions, the mods will fill in the rest to make up the numbers. If your theme suggestion isn’t picked, then you are welcome to suggest it again in other polls.

Remember: your suggestions for themes should be broad so that it’s easy for us to make up 20 prompts. For instance, ‘teacup’ is too narrow, but ‘Alice in Wonderland' works (more or less). Please expand on your suggestion in the comments to this post

* We reserve the right to reject, tweak or combine any suggestions that are unsuitable, inappropriate for everyone or unworkable for us in any way. This might be because the suggested theme is a) too narrow and we can’t think of 20 prompts, b) too similar to a recent theme, or c) because it’s just plain unpleasant (i.e. sexist, racist, homophobic etc). The poll will probably close at 12.00 GMT MIDDAY, (i.e. if I remember), on Monday, 31st December 2012. If there is a tie, the mods will choose the theme to do first from the winners and the other winner(s) will follow the month(s) after and there will be no poll for that month(s).

On with the show:

This poll is closed.

I thought we did hauntings a couple of months ago? :)

I don't know what I'm clicking; I just go with the copy... Oh, yes, sorry, I've just realised my notion of 'the veil' is completely compromised by the area in this game. It's just so nice when you discover the ocean's surface for the first time!

Well, it can be whatever we translate it to be, but it is a renaming of something particular.

That is a very old fashioned game.

It's all right; I've changed my mind.

And it's brilliant! IIRC the only controls are the mouse and it's entirely led by story and atmosphere. And the voice acting isn't even shit - despite it being an indie game. Well worth it.

But you need actual hand-eye co-ordination! Where are the armies that do it all for me? (I never did get any further in Neverwinter Nights due to my incompetence)

Nah, it's fine - lots of clicking down and then dragging shapes around in a speedy-yet-rough manner - very little proper micro style. Hell, even I managed to get through it eventually.

And it sounds like you just hit a bit of NWN where you were just the wrong level... It's fiendish when that happens.

Um, it's pretty much level one (in the expansion pack, I'm stuck quite near the end of the main game and that was due to a saved game snafu).

Oh, I thought you were still talking about that bit! Erm... Turn the difficulty down? ;)

I am! I think I've moaned about both at some point.

The difficulty doesn't go down any further.

Well, then, clearly you were never meant to get beyond that dragon (if it's still that dragon). *shakes head*

I can't remember now. I think I got past the dragon, but there's someone else that's the problem. I have abandoned that anyway and moved on, only to be stuck on some ghosty things in the expansion.

Oh grief, that's serious. Is there seriously nothing on You Tube to flush this nonsense out?

I've been doing many, many French and Saunders clips, but I was just going round in circles. Thankfully they haven't quite sorted out 4od, so when it failed to play properly a few times I gave up.

Sounds healthy. I recently got into a Noel Fielding loop.

I'm not sure I can do Noel Fielding beyond Buzzcocks. Isn't it just a lot of flying tricyles made of jealousy and ice cream?

Depends. If you watrch his solo show it was a bit like that, but the Boosh reined him in a bit and applied story to the insanity.

I've tried the Mighty Boosh, but it was all a bit story-in-inverted-commas for me...
